Breaking: Celtics Sign Al Horford

By: Jake Mackey

It has been reported by The Vertical and Al Horford himself that the 6-10 center will be signing a four-year $113 million-dollar deal with the Boston Celtics:

This obviously is a monumental move for the green, as they have never signed a top-notch free agent in the nearly 70-year history of the franchise.

Horford averaged 15.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season, and has been a mainstay in Atlanta during his nine-year career. He was a star player on the back-to-back national championship squads at Florida in 2006 and 2007. He’s also a four-time NBA All-Star.

The 30-year old Horford himself will not get you a championship with the way the Celtics roster is currently constituted. However it could very well intrigue other stars to join the Celtics in the future.

Let’s hope Kevin Durant enjoyed his meeting as well. How could he not?
